What a coach does
Listen
Your reader reads a sentence aloud. You'll both see the same big words on screen.
Encourage
Cheer them on, tap a tricky word to highlight it, and let them try again.
Move forward
When they've read it well, tap to bring up the next sentence.
Becoming a coach
Every volunteer completes every step before meeting a reader. It takes a little time, and it's why families can trust us.
Step 1
Apply
Tell us about yourself. You must be 18 or older.

Verify your identity
A quick ID check confirms you are who you say you are.

Background check
Required for everyone, run through a trusted screening provider.
Step 4
Training
A short module on coaching young readers and keeping kids safe.
Step 5
Code of conduct
Read and sign our rules for every session.

Approval
Our team reviews each volunteer before they can meet a reader.
Your time, your schedule
Post the times you're free, and families book the slots that fit. Sessions last 20 to 30 minutes, and there's no minimum commitment.
